The Wakefield Food Pantry is excited to take ownership of a wonderful new transport van.
The van was made possible by the generosity of a substantial grant by the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and the Wakefield community’s many donations, plus a significant anonymous gift.
“The van will be a great asset to the operation of the Pantry and the ancillary programs it sponsors,” explained Debbie Jones, Food Pantry Manager.
On a weekly basis, Pantry volunteers travel to numerous stores where large quantities of donations are picked up. These items include over 100 loaves of bread and many grocery store runs for fresh milk and produce.
“One of the major beneficiaries of the new van will be our Senior Program and its mobile pantries,” added Maureen Miller, Executive Director of the Pantry.
The van makes the logistics of transporting over 1200 pounds of food each month to senior housing locations an easier and more streamlined effort.
“Many thanks to the GBFB grant and to our generous Wakefield community. We couldn’t have done this without you!”
